Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
We’re here to help you have the holiday of a lifetime

Why should I come to Stephen Roche Cycling Holidays in Mallorca and not any other company?

We’ve been providing great cycling holidays in Mallorca for 20 years and we pride ourselves on our exceptional level of customer service. We provide excellent 4 star accommodation, in exclusive sea-front locations, with the best Ride Captains on the island. We believe we offer the best value, for the best cycling experience, in Mallorca.

And, to top it all, you have an 85% chance of riding with one of the world’s greatest cyclists while you’re here! What more could you ask for?

Do I need to bring anything with me if I’m hiring a bike?

Yes. You need to bring your pedals, shoes and helmet. If you send us your measurements when booking, we’ll have your bike ready and will fit your pedals for you on arrival. If you’re unable to bring your pedals with you, we do offer the renting of pedals for just €10, please let us know which make and model you need upon booking.

How good a cyclist do I need to be?

All you need is a good level of fitness with basic bike handling skills and basic road cycling knowledge. We have 4 groups of different levels of speed that ride every day. You can also change groups as you progress throughout the week! If you have any doubts as to which group you should ride with on the day, just ask one of our Ride Captains who will help you choose the right group.

I’m worried about being left behind. Really, how fit do I need to be?

We do not leave anyone behind, ever! Our Ride Captains lead and sweep every group and are here to ensure you have a positive cycling experience and can help you decide which riding group is best for you; and if you over-exert yourself during a particular ride, you can always jump in the support vehicle and sit back and relax all the way back to the hotel.

How long are the rides?

Distances range between 50 Km and 130 Km, depending on the route and the group you join in the morning. Rides depart between 9:00 and 9:30 am and return between 1:30 and 2:30 pm.

Is food provided on the rides?

No, but we have a coffee stop on every ride at different beautiful locations in Mallorca for you to try some local cakes and snacks, so do take some change with you. We also have a wide range of High5 energy products available to purchase in our shops and there is fruit available at your hotel in the morning. There are also local supermarkets nearby where you can buy fruit, nuts or whatever you prefer.

Do I have to ride everyday?

No. It’s your holiday, so you can ride as little or as often as you like. Many of our guests take at least one day off the bike when they’re here and take in some of the other sights and activities the island has to offer. Even we take Wednesdays off!

Can I bring my own bike?

Yes. You can bring your own bike, we also offer bike transfers and it can be stored in our secure bike stations in one at one of our three main partner hotels. However, with the increasing carriage costs on airlines and the fact that our exceptional, carbon road bikes are available to hire at a reasonable price you may want to seriously consider if it is worth it. We’ve also yet to meet a cyclist who hasn’t worried about whether their beautiful bike would make the journey in one piece when taking it on a flight!

What do I do when I arrive?

When you arrive to your hotel, you’re free to check in and check out your room, if your room isn’t ready you can either relax around your hotel or have a wander around Palmanova. Then, depending on the time, you can come and visit us in the office to sign your registration form and collect your goody bag (and ask any questions you may have) before making your way to the bike station to get your bike fitted and ready for the next morning.

What if I arrive in the evening?

If you arrive outside of our opening hours, it’s not a problem, we’ll take your registration form and goody bag to the bike station at your hotel for you to sign and pick up in the morning. Our bike stations are open early so there will still be plenty of time to pick up your bike before the rides depart. The bike station opening hours are on display at each station and outside our office in the Ponent Mar.

Can I book my own accommodation and still hire a bike and ride with the groups?

Afraid not. We currently only offer bike hire and guided rides as part of a package with our accommodation options, but with our choice of four star hotels, with included half-board meals, you’ll be hard-pushed to find a better deal elsewhere anyway!

Can I bring a non-cycling partner?

If you’re partner doesn’t cycle, don’t worry, there are plenty of other things to do in Mallorca. The capital city, Palma, is just a short taxi or bus ride away, and in the Palmanova area itself, there’s: shopping, golf, tennis, running tracks, swimming pools, yoga, sightseeing and much more! Not to mention the glorious Palmanova Beach on your doorstep!

Can I bring my family?

Yes. Your family is very welcome. Palmanova is one of Mallorca’s most popular family resorts and has family facilities and activities throughout the cycling season.

Can I come on my own?

We have lots of individual riders! There is a great atmosphere and it’s really easy to make new friends on and off the bike :) In the evenings we have reserved, group tables at the Ponent Mar and Senses Palmanova where all our guests can sit together and share stories over their evening meal.

How long do I have to come for?

Whatever length of time suits you! You can arrive and depart on any day of the week and stay for as many days as you like. Just remember that Wednesday is our normal rest day, unless we’re taking on the Sa Calobra with some of our more adventurous guests!

Can I come in the summer?

Yes. We offer Private Guided Rides during our off season and can also provide accommodation, bike hire and airport transfers.

Do you offer deals to large groups, teams, clubs or organisations?

Yes. We have special rates for clubs, groups and race teams. We actively support charity riding groups requiring specific organisation. Contact us for further details.
